As the snow starts to melt and the goggle tans become badges of honor, it's time to celebrate the end of another epic ski season in the high country. In Leadville, we bid farewell to winter with sunshine, soft turns, and a series of unforgettable events at our neighboring ski mountains: Ski Cooper and Copper Mountain.


Ski Cooper: Local Charm & Family Fun

Just 10 miles from downtown Leadville, Ski Cooper offers a warm, community-focused atmosphere perfect for wrapping up the season. Catch a ride on the free weekend shuttle from Leadville operating 7am to 6pm on Saturday and Sunday.


🌸 Easter Egg Hunt at Cooper

Date & Time: Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 9:00 AM sharp.

Bring the kids and their Easter baskets for a festive egg hunt at the base of the Molly Mayfield trail. With three golden eggs redeemable for a free 2025-26 Cooper Season Pass, it's an event you won't want to miss.​


🎉 Closing Day

Date: Sunday, April 13, 2025
Celebrate the season's end with a day full of skiing and camaraderie. Plenty of places to catch some rays with patio seating available at Ridgeview Cafe (on mountain) and at Katie O’Rourke’s and the Timberline Taproom at the base. Enjoy live music on the deck (weather permitting) featuring local band Horizon Line from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Plus, join the party all weekend long with tailgating in the Nordic Center parking lot. It's the perfect way to toast to another fantastic winter at Cooper!


Copper Mountain: High-Energy Spring Celebrations

A short drive over Fremont Pass, Copper Mountain knows how to throw a party to mark the season's end.


✌️ Peace Out in Woodward’s Central Park

Date & Time: Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Experience a unique blend of spring park skiing and riding along with festive vibes on the mountain at Woodward’s Central Park. Show off your skills and enjoy cash prizes, BBQ, autographs with Danny Davis, giveaways, and laid-back fun with your crew—all set against the stunning mountain backdrop.​

Dates & Times: Saturday and Sunday, April 26-27, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 5:45 PM each day.
Join Copper's legendary spring festival featuring free live music, giveaways, and more. Don your best tropical attire—think Hawaiian shirts, leis, and grass skirts—and soak up the vibrant atmosphere as we celebrate another incredible season.​



💦 Slush Rush

Date & Time: Saturday, May 3, 2025; competition starts at 12:00 PM.
Gather your team of three for this playful relay event combining skiing, snowboarding, and a pond skim. Race through various challenges and make a splash—literally—as you skim across icy waters. Whether you're competing or cheering from the sidelines, it's guaranteed fun.​


🎶 Copper Live: El Paso Lasso

Date & Time: Saturday, May 3, 2025, from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM.
After the Slush Rush, stick around for a free live concert in Center Village. Enjoy the sounds of El Paso Lasso as you unwind and celebrate the season's end with fellow mountain enthusiasts.​


🎿 Closing Weekend

Dates: Saturday and Sunday, May 10-11, 2025.
Bid adieu to the ski season with Copper's grand finale. Enjoy a party in Center Village and a festive atmosphere that ensures the season ends on a high note.​

At 10,152 feet, Leadville isn’t quite ready to trade snowflakes for sunshine just yet. But that’s part of the magic—our long winters mean more time to enjoy roaring fireplaces, warm drinks, and cozy mountain vibes. So, whether you’re fresh off the ski trails, wrapping up a day of exploring, or just looking for a snug spot to soak in Leadville’s charm, here are the best places in town to warm up by the fire.

No matter when you visit Leadville and Twin Lakes, you’ll find yourself two miles above sea level (ok, technically 1.9 miles, but who’s counting?). When you visit in March, you’ll be even closer to the glorious Colorado sun because by this time of year, Leadville and Twin Lakes have typically received around two meters of snow! Yes, meters. Here are some great ways you can enjoy the abundant snow and sun! 1) HIT THE SLOPES AT SKI COOPER Like to ski or ride? Check out Ski Cooper for affordable access to uncrowded slopes. Cooper is open seven days a week through Sunday, April 13, 2025. To learn to ski or board or to improve your skills, sign up for lessons for the whole family. 2) RIDE THE TRAIN Hop aboard the Leadville Railroad Winter Express for a 2-hour train ride through some of the area’s most spectacular scenery. The Winter Express runs until April 13th, departing Thursdays through Saturdays at 1:00 p.m plus daily at 1:00pm during spring break from March 9th through March 29th. This is a popular attraction and reservations are required! Book your seats here . 3) GO SNOWMOBILING Snowmobile and ATV tours are a great way to explore Leadville’s historic East Side Mining District, Turquoise Lake Recreation Area and the surrounding hills.
