Golden Burro Cafe

The Golden Burro Cafe in downtown Leadville offers Mexican and American favorites. Grab a booth inside our brightly remodeled space or enjoy a sidewalk table when the weather is nice!

Join us for a hearty sit-down breakfast of a carne asada, chorizo, or bacon burrito. Or choose waffles, French toast, omelets, chilaquiles, and much more. The lunch menu includes soups, salads, chicken or steak fajitas, tostadas and enchiladas, and deep-fried ice cream. Dinner offers such specialties as chimichangas, chiles rellenos, mojarra frita, molcajete, and more.

In 2023, the Golden Burro Cafe was named to the National Register of Historic Places. The building dates back to 1898, and the legendary diner opened in this spot in 1945. In recent years, it has undergone extensive renovations to restore its look to its 1945-1973 heydays.
